If you have a Mazda car, you probably know how handy the key fob is for unlocking the doors and starting the engine. However, like any battery-powered device, the key fob’s battery will eventually run out of juice. Don’t panic if this happens – changing the battery in your Mazda key fob is actually quite simple!

Step 1: Get the Right Battery

The first step to changing the battery in your Mazda key fob is to find out what type of battery you need. The most common battery used in Mazda key fobs is a CR2025 lithium coin cell, but it’s always best to check your owner’s manual or consult with a Mazda dealer before purchasing a replacement battery.

Step 2: Open the Key Fob

Once you have the replacement battery, it’s time to open the key fob. Most Mazda key fobs have a small button or switch on the back that you can slide or press to release the cover. If you’re not sure how to open your particular key fob, consult your owner’s manual or look for instructions online.

Step 3: Remove the Old Battery

Once you have the key fob open, you should be able to see the old battery. Carefully remove it from its slot using your fingers or a non-metallic tool like a plastic pry tool or a toothpick. Be sure to note which side of the battery is facing up so that you can install the replacement battery correctly later on.

Step 4: Install the New Battery

Now it’s time to replace the old battery with the new one. Simply place the replacement battery into the slot, making sure that it’s oriented correctly with the positive and negative sides aligned. Gently press down on the battery to secure it in place.

Step 5: Close the Key Fob

Once the new battery is installed, it’s time to close up the key fob. Simply align the cover or case back into place and press or slide it until it clicks into place. Test the key fob to make sure it’s working properly by pressing the buttons to lock or unlock your car doors or start your engine.

Replacing the battery in your Mazda key fob is a quick and easy process that can save you time and money compared to taking it to a dealer or mechanic. With just a few simple steps, you can have your key fob working like new once again.
